10 photons from the swell of the century in Nazaré

Local photographer Abilio Meneses immortalized the historic day and this is a solid selection of his work

Days will pass and the material from a day that will go down in history will continue to be processed. For many it was the best day in the history of big wave surfing, for many others it was the best day in the history of surfing in Nazaré and for others the matter is put into perspective.

What is certain is that it was gigantic at an extraordinary level, that it was sunny and that the conditions were impeccable.

Below is a selection of a day that I'm sure everyone will agree was incredible.

Big? Sebastian Steudner pushing boundaries.
He gets lost in the size of the wave, but to the left there is a surfer sharing that wave.
The meeting of the day, Nic Von Rupp and Joao Guedes, because they say that sharing is caring. Nothing serious happened, but there was certainly an internal dispute.
One with foam.
It caused controversy when people gathered in Nazaré and surfing was banned. They say that there were 20.000 people that day.
Another giant from German Sebastian Steudner.
Talking about the foam and the crowd. And a decent moment to take out the tablet and take a photo.
Looks like it's Nico Von Rupp on another hottie wave.
