Two days in Western Australia were better than two championships in the East

Two days in Western Australia were better than two championships in the East; those waves are the key, the chance to see good surfing, to see moments of tension, to differentiate good class surfing from that which is not so good.

Two days and 10 photons. One above and nine below.

Ryan Callinan puts the board "where he likes to see the judges" to receive a 9,93. The Australian will face Frederico Morais in round 4. All photos from WSL/Dunbar-Maiers
Two days in the west were better than any day in the east of Australia. Pictured: Cyrus Cox, a local, bowed out of the event but showed courage and good surfing.
Medina is very solid in small waves, very solid in big waves, and very solid in the rankings.
Griffin Colapinto knows how to do aerials but he also knows how to power surf. Surfing like this he won in round 1 and then Deivid Silva in round 3.
Local superstar Jack Robinson was one of the big surprises of the tournament, losing to Brazilian Caio Ibelli, who knows how to take down big tour figures. Nevertheless, Robinson showed that when the seas rise, so does his surfing.
The tireless fighter, Jadson André, came down the drain, paid with blows and with sacrifice managed to get into round 4 after beating his compatriot Yago Dora.
That corner gave John John two wins at Margaret and if nothing unusual happens, it will give him his third. He needs composure, though.
Another one who found his rhythm in the West: Jualian Wilson; he's killing it.
Reef Heazlewood couldn't find his rhythm and finished last in the event, but he pulled off this bomb and got a nice photo.
