38 CT surfers, including Kelly, are entered for the Gold Coast challenger
Ariane Ochoa entered the main event, it is very likely that Alonso Correa will also do so as the first alternate; Leticia Canales and Marco Giorgi wait in the fifth and seventh places in the line
38 CT surfers, 24 men and 14 women, including top-ranked surfers Slater, Andino, Tyler Wright and Brisa Hennessy, are entered into the first leg of this year's Challenger Series circuit, the WSL reported in the PDFs for the tournament that will take place May 7-15.
Below you can read the list of all the surfers registered for the tournament and some of the new features brought by the 13 replacements (three women and 10 men) of the CT surfers who will not be present at the tournament.
Some of the most notable are the confirmed presence of Ariane Ochoa and Alonso Correa as the first male substitute, which makes us think that it is very likely that the Peruvian will end up competing because it is expected that more than one surfer who is guaranteed to make the CT in Margaret will withdraw from the tournament.
Also appearing on the list of women is the Spanish Leticia Canales, as fifth alternate, and Marco Giorgi as seventh.
According to Stab, the large number of surfers registered is due to a WSL rule that requires CT surfers to participate in a certain number of stages of the eight challenger series. This rule previously existed for the primes.
