A Latin big wave circuit was put on the table
On Red Bull's La Noche en Español, Gabriel Villarán said that he is in talks with Ramón Navarro to help promote a tour of this type
At La Noche en Español, the event organized by Red Bull, which for the first time brought together several personalities from the world of big waves and from outside (such as the "batlleros de gallos" [rooster battlers]), the already legendary Peruvian, Gabriel Villarán, mentioned that he is in talks with Ramón Navarro to carry out something similar to a Latin big wave tour.
Leandro Usuna, two-time world champion who acted as host at the event for the Austrian brand, commented that for him what needs to be done to encourage the growth of big wave surfing in the region is to organize a tour that brings together the best waves on the continent, such as Punta de Lobos, Pico Alto, Puerto Escondido.
Villarán responded very optimistically (see video below), pointing out that something like this is close to happening because the legendary Ramón Navarro also intends to do it.
Literally, Villarán said: “I just wanted to tell you that I have a call with Ramón Navarro from Pichilemu who is one of those who is, I don't know if promoting, but pushing what you just said, suddenly uniting several big wave spots in Latin America to be able to promote this category more, motivate the kids and in some way be a little more solid as a region in the coming years.”
