A Mexican champion of Europe: Marco Mignot won the WSL junior title

By reaching the semi-finals in Pantín and seeing his opponents fall, the player from Sayulita celebrated the title and is off to the world championship

With his third place at the Pantin Classic and the defeat of his main rival, Justin Becret, the Franco-Mexican Marco Mignot has just been crowned WSL European Junior Champion. The Frenchman Mathis Crozon, who made it to the grand final and is third in the ranking, does not even reach the 3120 points that the man from Sayulita has already accumulated by winning the stage.

Costa Rican Tiago Carrique was the one who did Mignot the favor, beating the second-ranked player, Justin Becret of France, in the quarterfinals.

In addition to the title, this result gave Mignot a ticket to the junior world championships, which will be held in early 2019 at a venue to be determined.

In the key quarter-final series that guaranteed him the title, the local from Sayulita scored 11,17 to beat the Frenchman Dorian Gómez who added 10 points.

The event now has Crozon and Carrique in the final. The rest of the results were as follows:

3: Marco Mignot and Vitor Ferreira
5: Mateus Herdy, Dorian Gomez, Joaquim Chaves and Justin Becret
