The dynamic duo of the best surfing and the best food will teach a course on Saturday, July 13.

Over the last few years, awareness about the importance of eating well, not only for surfing but also for living better, has increased exponentially.

Following this trend, Carlos Mario Zapata, one of the greatest talents of Peruvian surfing today and DUKE columnist with his always welcome #Zapatips, joined chef and nutritionist Germán Roz to create an innovative food and surfing day, to teach the best practices in the water and in the kitchen or at the table.

In the following paragraphs, Carlos Mario gives some advice and explains what the course consists of.

How important is it to eat well to surf well? Why?
It's like the gas you put in a car or the ingredients/materials for a certain product. The quality of the inputs will determine the quality of the “final product”; in this case, the performance of the surfer.

What eating habits have you found to be key to improving your surfing?
Eating few fried foods, plenty of vegetables/salads, fruits, among other things. The fundamental thing has always been to have a repertoire of options for each meal of the day; however, where I have always felt the greatest effect has been at breakfast.

What eating habits do you think are key to making your surfing worse?
The worst is eating fat or protein that is difficult to digest, late at night. You cannot eat that way, because you will sleep badly and wake up heavy and having had a bad dream.

How did the idea of giving this course come about?
It came about because Germán Roz, who is a surfer, chef and nutritionist, and I had the opportunity to talk about our passions and how to get the most out of them, offering added value to the general public. Previously, we made a Zapatip and now we are looking to put it into practice.

What will it include?
It includes a full day of surfing and information about our diet. We will start at 8 am in Germán Roz's studio, with a breakfast prepared by him and a talk about nutrition applied to the case.

Then, we will head to the beaches of southern Lima and train. Afterwards, we will have lunch and then do a second session. During the surfing sessions, I will be analyzing and running with those who are part of the program, to give them immediate feedback and give them the basic tips of the moment.

Everything mentioned above is included, plus lunch, snacks, transportation; that is, everything (laughs). The price is 390 soles per person, there are limited places. To register you must contact the following emails: carlosmariozp@gmail.com or info@germanroz.com.

Chef, surfer and nutritionist, Germán Roz is a person we would all like to have as a friend.
