A good tube yesterday in Rocha keeps Francisco Morosini on a good pace in the Volkswagen Autumn Wave

"It was fast, difficult, the tube was long, I held on, I held on, and at the end I thought it was going to crush me, but I was able to find the way out," the surfer told DUKE.

After having contributed seven of the 16 entries of the Volkswagen Autumn Wave in the March-April period, Francisco Morosini added a powerful entry after leaving this good backside tube in Rocha yesterday, May 13.

This is the surfer's eighth entry into the event, two of whom are already in the grand final (See the first five finalists here).

"There were a lot of people and few waves were coming in when they opened up, it was very fast. I spent a long time looking for a tube and I couldn't find one until I caught that last one that came out (laughs). It was fast, difficult, the tube was long, I held on, I held on and at the end I thought it was going to crush me but I was able to find the way out and I couldn't believe it, after waiting for it for so long," Francisco told DUKE.

And he added: "It's worth mentioning and you can see in the video that it's a wave that wasn't easy at all, because of how fast it is, how the sections were falling and the last section that kind of falls; that, it wasn't an easy wave, but it was done."

Asked if this gives him hope of winning the tournament, he said: “I know it's difficult, that there is a high level, anything can happen, but with this one I have a little hope. I can fight for it.”
