New parameters were set this weekend in Hawaii.

At Himalayas, an outer reef that can handle any size (until yesterday), the waves got so, so huge that the channel closed. Motorbikes ran away, surfers paddled for their lives, it seems incredible that no one (so far) has been reported dead.

That's just one example, because Waimea Bay was also closed, and Peahi was very busy, with a bunch of windsurfers getting hit by the waves.
