After 15 years, Aliotti left Volcom and joined Billabong.
He reported that he was earning less now than he did as a junior player, and that the final straw was being told to go to the Volcom house in Hawaii, but once there, there was no room.
William Aliotti, a longtime Volcom rider, left the brand after 15 years and switched to Billabong, he announced on his Instagram.
According to Stab, he was earning more in his junior years than he is these days, when he is a world free surfing star and leader in twin fin surfing.
On the other hand, the end with the brand was not good because in addition to not being satisfied with his salary, the last straw was a run-in he had after being told to go to Hawaii because he had a guaranteed spot, and once there he realized he had no place, he told Stab.
He even asked to stay on the floor and have a mattress put down, but his request was denied.
"After 15 years at Volcom, it's time to make the leap to something new. These last 15 years have been some of the best of my life. I was lucky enough to spend seven years growing up in the Volcom House, meeting riders from all over the world. The experiences, the memories, and all the laughs we shared are something I will carry with me forever. Volcom gave me the freedom to be a free surfer, to chase my dreams, and helped me become who I am today. I couldn't be more grateful for all those incredible years," he wrote in his farewell message.
The final point opened the search and led to Billabong, a brand with which she says she feels comfortable and with the budget and support necessary to complete her goals.
And then, Billabong wrote: "Surfers follow many paths: some seek competitions with their sights set on the CT, others surf as a weekend ritual, and some make it a family pastime during the holidays. Then there are the few who forge their own path, seeking waves that push the limits of their skill and equipment, while forging their own vision. William Aliotti is one of those exceptional surfers, and we are thrilled to welcome him to Team Billabong for upcoming adventures."
