Day 2 of the World Surfing Championships in El Salvador saw no complete undefeated teams, and all nations registered for the event lost at least one of their participants and saw their names fall into the play-offs.
In some cases, such as Brazil, with Medina and Tatiana Weston leaving the competition and in other cases, such as Australia or France, due to the high level of surfing in emerging nations.
The day that started with Round 1 incomplete, went through all of Round 2 and ended with 32 undefeated women and 36 undefeated men already qualified for Round 3, still with one life left in the tank.
The only two nations that still have all their players alive in the main event are South Africa, which came with one participant, and New Zealand, which came with two.
Here's how the round 3 series ended:

These surfers have already guaranteed themselves at least a 41st or 46th place, because if they lose in round 3 they will fall to round 4 of the repechage.
Of the Spanish-speaking countries, where it was reported yesterday that Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Spain started undefeated, the last, Chile and Argentina are the ones that remain in the best situation, with four surfers out of six already in round 3.
Spain saw Andy Criere and Nadie Erostarbe lose but saw Aritz Aranburu, Jonathan Gonzalez, Ariane Ochoa and Leticia Canales advance. Chile saw Maximiliano Cross and Jessica Anderson lose but have Estela López, Lorena Fica, Manuel Selman and Guillermo Satt in round 3. Finally, Argentina saw Lele Usuna and Nacho Gundensen lose but today saw Lucía Indurain, Josefina Ané, Ornella Pellizzari and Santiago Muñiz advance.
Meanwhile, the powerful Peruvian team Peru lost Sofia Mulanovich, Alonso Correa and Lucca Mesinas, but saw Miguel Tudela, Melanie Giunta and Daniella Rosas advance.
From the rest of the Spanish-speaking countries, several standouts emerged that made it to round 3 of the main event: Panama managed to get Tao Rodriguez and Isauro Elizondo to advance, Venezuela saw Lolo Bellorin do the same, El Salvador shone with Bryan Pérez breaking it in El Sunzal, Mexico saw Alan Cleland and Asaya Brusa explode, Nicaragua saw the sisters Valentina and Candelaria Resano, Costa Rica saw Leilani McGonagle and Uruguay saw Marcela Machado.
The event continues tomorrow with the third round of the main event taking to the water at La Bocana and the repechage heats at El Sunzal. The sea is forecast to rise.
