After 2028, the ISA plans to request the inclusion of longboard and SUP racing in the Olympic Games

ISA President Fernando Aguerre announced this at the closing ceremony of the South American Youth Championships; he said he hopes that the Paralympics will open the door to surfing.


After the surfing event in Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028, the ISA will request the inclusion of longboarding and SUP Race in the upcoming Olympic Games, announced the president of the organization, Fernando Aguerre, at the closing ceremony of the South American youth championship.

“We have the right to ask for more disciplines, and what we will certainly ask for is longboarding and SUP racing and paddling,” said Aguerre, who also welcomed the news a few months ago that surfing had been included as a permanent sport at the Games.

He also said he hopes that adapted surfing or para surfing, in one of its disciplines, will be included as part of the Paralympic Games.

The next Olympics will be held in Paris in 2024 and Los Angeles in 2028, with the 2024 event taking place in the waves of Teahupoo, Tahiti.

In 2032, they will be in the wave-rich area of ​​Brisbane, Australia.
