"This is still an ongoing discussion, but it goes without saying that we will continue to row hard," said the ISA president.

Immediately after the favourable ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the president of the International Surfing Association, Fernando Aguerre, went to the IOC and the organisation of the games to request that SUP be included in Paris 2024, the authority reported in an interview with the Portuguese surfing federation, which was reported by the website specialising in Olympic issues, Insidethegames.

“In fact, as soon as the CAS decision was made public, we did not delay in having our first discussions with the IOC and the Paris team in order to have SUP in Paris 2024,” the authority said.

“This is still an ongoing discussion, but it goes without saying that we will continue to paddle hard,” the ISA President added. “Our plan is to continue to promote SUP in the Olympic programme proactively, but also in the other multi-sport events under the auspices of the IOC,” he noted.

He mentioned that SUP is guaranteed to be present at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago and the 2021 Asian Beach Games.
