ALAS plans stages in Jamaica, El Salvador, Panama and Mexico to close 2019

The Latin American Association of Professional Surfers (ALAS) announced that it will pause its calendar until after the Lima 2019 Pan American Games (July 26 to August 11) and that when it resumes, it plans to close the year with six-star stages in El Salvador and Mexico in August and September respectively, and then continue on to Panama and Jamaica.

It would be the first time in history that the Caribbean island hosts a stage of the Latin Tour.

“For ALAS it would be a great pride to reach the paradisiacal island of Jamaica, a destination where the Tour  "This has never happened before, and this would bring us more than 17 countries where ALAS events have been held in Latin America and the Caribbean. We are in negotiations to make this happen and we hope to make the announcement in the coming weeks," said the president of ALAS, Karin Sierralta, in a press release.

On the other hand, the official ranking was announced after two stages (Reñaca and Barranca) with the young Noel de la Torre as leader in open men and junior, Analí Gómez in women and the following surfers in the rest of the categories:

• Ana Camila Kaspar (PER) - Women's Longboard
• José Gómez (PER) - SUP Surf Men
• Vania Torres (PER) - SUP Surf Women
• Carlos Gomez (ECU) - SUP Race
• Giannisa Vecco (PER) - SUP Race
• Cristopher Bayona (PER) - Bodyboard
• Guillermo Rodríguez (PER) – Dropknee

Another novelty presented in a press release is that another nighttime maneuver event will be held, sponsored by the telecommunications giant, Claro.
