ALAS Tour starts in Mexico on June 30

In Acapulco, $50.000 will be distributed; for the first time in the history of the circuit there will be equal payment

The Latin American Association of Professional Surfers, ALAS, will carry out its first stage of the 2021 tour on the waves of Princess Beach, in Acapulco, Mexico, between June 30 and July 3, they reported today in a press release.

The event will feature six prime stars in the men's, women's and junior divisions and will distribute $50.000, with $6.000 awarded to the men's and women's champion and $3800 to the juniors.

“It is a great honor to return to Mexico and work together with the Mexican Surfing Federation for the development of surfing in Mexico and on the entire continent,” said Karín Sierralta, president of the tour.

“This event will serve as a great platform, with attractive prizes, to resume competitive activity on the continent. It will also serve as a great training ground for athletes from the Americas and to showcase new local and international sports talents,” he added.

“The event will be a bio-secure event, which will have strict protocols to avoid the spread of diseases, such as the mandatory use of masks, measures for social distancing, among others, approved by national and international organizations, thinking first of the safety of the athletes, their companions and the spectators,” the statement said.
