ALAS will hold a night event in Punta Roquitas

"We are looking for more sports fans who are not necessarily surfers," explained ALAS president Karin Sierralta.

The Latin American Association of Professional Surfers will celebrate its 18th anniversary by organizing a night surfing tournament on the Lima beach of Punta Roquitas next Saturday, April 27.

The Claro Neon Night will award $6000 to those who perform the most radical maneuvers using large lights from the beach and also using LED lights on their boards.

“This event will be held annually as a way to celebrate the anniversary of our Latin Tour and bring together the great ALAS family to remember and celebrate our beginnings, our reach and achievements during these 18 years of Tour,” said ALAS President Karin Sierralta in the statement sent by the institution.

Asked by DUKE about the tournament in question, Sierralta explained that it is “a hybrid event with the aim of institutionalizing a show of extreme maneuvers and in which invited surfers can take home a prize pool under the ALAS format. These are products created for our allies with the aim of socializing surfing in the city. We are looking for more fans of the sport who are not necessarily surfers.”

Referring to the fact that there are only a few ALAS stages and the possibility that these resources were used for that, he said: “Doing one stage of the tour is much more expensive. We hope to close the year with three stages in Central and North America. Soon on our site.”
