Alonso Correa achieved a solid fifth in the QS 3000 at Sunset

And by 0,10 he missed the final. With this result he gets closer to the top 30 in preparation for his first Hawaiian Triple Crown.

Peru's Alonso Correa continued his strong pace from the past few days in Sunset, Hawaii, and achieved a very solid fifth place in the HIC Pro, 3000-point QS that is currently ending. Correa missed out on making it to the grand final by just 0,1 in the semi-final.

The local from Villa's backside attack was noticeable in Hawaii throughout the three-day tournament; he won his round 4 heat, scored 8,77 on his best wave in the quarterfinals and didn't hesitate for a second to attack one of the most feared lips on the planet.

Once in the semis, Alonso started off fast, scoring 5 points that kept him in contention for the entire series. In the last exchange he surfed a wave that was not broadcast on the webcast and ended up being worth 0,1 less than what he needed to beat the local Kiron Jabour and the South African Beyrick Devries.

The result gives him 1260 points, which will allow him to discard his worst result (630 points) and add points to get from 39th to 30th place in the QS ranking.

On the other hand, he makes it clear that at such a young age, he has the potential to fight for the Triple Crown. In a few days he will start in Haleiwa and then return to Sunset. If he scores 10.000 more points, he would become the first Peruvian man to enter the CT.

Final result:
1- Kiron Jabour
2- Oneill Masin
3- Beyrick De Vries
4- Slade Prestwich
5- Alonso Correa and Patrick Gudauskas
7- Luke Shepardson and David Van Zyl
