Peruvian Alonso Correa just placed fifth in the Vans Pro, QS 3000 which is ending in solid, perfect waves at Sunset Beach, Hawaii.
Until the end of his semi-final series, Alonso needed 4,8, which he came close to obtaining but was beaten by one point by local Barron Mamiya and by considerably more by fellow Hawaiian Ezekiel Lau.
Alonso's fifth-place finish of 1260 points gives him his third-best result of the year (behind Sydney and Arica) and leaves him with a total of 7900 points that put him just inside the top 50 of the QS rankings and in a position to dream about the final two stages of the year, the QS 10.000 at Haleiwa and Sunset.
It has two relatively low discards of 900 and 840.
The Peruvian's relationship with Sunset is always good, last year he abandoned the QS 10.000 in the round of XNUMX.
Back in Mecca, he once again achieved an expressive result, being the best Latin American in the tournament.
The Hawaiian Triple Crown will kick off on November 13 with the Hawaiian Pro in Haleiwa and conclude with the Vans World Cup between November 25 and December 7.
