An X-ray of the Surf City El Salvador Longboard Classic venue, in photos

Sunzal and the best longboarding in the world; a preview of what is coming for the decisive stage of the WSL that will take place between September 19 and 25

Presents Surf City - El Salvador Travel

Sunzal looks like a longboard friendly wave and it is when it's small, but when it gets a bit bigger, it becomes an interesting challenge. It pushes classic longboarding to the edge of its limits and that's why in this photo gallery you can see a few hang fives on double overhead waves or more.

In the gallery below, taken during the ISA World Championships held between May 7 and 13, you can see a good X-ray of the wave:

-A large first section that allows for walking but should not be wasted so as not to miss the critical part.

-A middle section where you transition with turn set ups or some good cutback.

-To get into the final section closer to the shore.

-The shore can be challenging, especially at high tide, when the wave ends up breaking on top of the pebble stones. And at low tide it becomes a very interesting shorebreak that has caused broken boards, bumps and cuts.

Below are some of the best photos taken by Pablo Jimenez and Jersson Barboza.

A smaller day is perhaps better to bring out the best of classic longboarding.
This is not a photo of Bells from a few days ago, it is El Sunzal.
When the sea comes in, every so often a storm comes in that takes everyone by surprise.

The last section of El Sunzal is tricky and powerful and has claimed more than one board and a few bumps and cuts. Behind you can see the rock of El Tunco.
The wave lends itself to stretching long and stylish cutbacks.
When it's small, it's an extremely fun wave for longboarding.
