Peruvian surfer Analí Gómez won the Maui and Sons Pichilemu Women's Pro for the second consecutive year today, which ended with fun one-meter waves in Punta de Lobos.
In the final, the Punta Hermosa local beat Australian Freya Prumm by 9,75 (5,75+4) to 8,20 (4,25+3,95) and earned 1500 points to start the 2020 ranking in first place and finish the 2020 South American ranking in third place.
“I am very happy and excited, especially because of the support from the fans. Even though we had some small waves on the first day, it was an incredible tournament and I dedicate this trophy to my beloved Peru. I hope to be back next year defending the title,” said Gomez after getting out of the water, according to a statement sent by the WSL.
For Australian Prumm, it was her second final in Punta de Lobos, having finished second in 2017 (when she lost to Leilani McGonagle).
“The waves improved a lot today but it was still difficult to find the waves so I am happy even though I came very close to getting my first win here,” said Prumm after the final.
Tied for third place were Josefina Ané of Argentina and Ella McCaffray of the United States.
