Andy Criere and Garazi Sánchez are the new champions of Spain
The waves appeared just in time on the beach of A Frouxeira in Valdoviño and were consecrated in almost all the categories in dispute
A fatal flat in Valdoviño finally came to an end this weekend, when some fun waves reached the Galician coast and served to consecrate Andy Criere and Garazi Sánchez as the new Spanish champions in a day of arduous competition.
The men's final ended as follows:
1st Andy Criere
2nd Vicente Romero
3rd Ruben Vitoria
4th Iker Amatriain
“I became the Spanish Champion of my passion! Thank you to all of you who have accompanied me on this journey, let’s keep dreaming and growing,” Criere wrote on his Instagram.
Meanwhile, in the women's category, Garazi repeated the title consecutively and won the final which was as follows:
1st Garazi Sanchez
2nd Leticia Canales
3rd Melania Suarez
4th Nadia Erostarbe
“Being a national champion every year has more value for everything it entails: The level is rising by leaps and bounds, the pre-selections for Tokyo 2020 are getting closer and closer and feeling that all this is making our sport move forward fills you with energy and enthusiasm. That's why I have to say that I'm very happy to be the Spanish champion again this year,” Garazi wrote on her social networks.
It is worth noting the abundance of young talent in these two finals, with Iker Amatriain, Nadia Erostarbe and Melania Suárez making it to the grand finals of the open category.

The other youth categories could not be held due to the lack of waves during the first days of the event.
