Araki and Fica started winning in the Chilean

The De la Torre brothers and the young Estela López dominated in the youth categories and were prominent in the senior divisions

Roberto Araki from Easter Island and Lorena Fica from Arica were crowned champions in the open category of the first stage of the Chilean surfing circuit, the Maui and Sons Viña del Mar Open, which took place between Friday and Sunday in fun waves in the fifth sector of Reñaca, reported the press department of the local federation.

In addition to the victory of the aforementioned surfers, the event also featured the great highlight of the De la Torre brothers, who made it to the open final and dominated the junior finals. Another who stood out was Estela López, who, at less than 15 years old, managed to be runner-up in the Open.

"I am very happy with my achievement. It was three days of hard work and my victory depends a lot on the conditions of the waves, that is, how they manifest themselves is how I decide to face them," said Araki after emerging victorious from the water.

For her part, Fica said: “At first I didn't know if I would participate in this event because of the exhaustion of last year's competitions, which kept me away from home; but I decided to do it and thus start the year with a local event and winning it would be a good push,” explained the surfer from Arica, who achieved her goal.
