Argentine Josefina Ané ruined the local party and won in South Africa
Great goal from the visiting team at the QS 1000 Royal St Andrews Hotel Port Alfred Classic
Argentine Josefina Ané, 19, achieved her first victory in a QS event today in Port Alfred, South Africa. After being a finalist in the Mar del Plata tournament, it seems that the Argentine went looking for revenge and got it.
She easily won the QS 1000, which was packed with South Africans, scoring several points more than her opponents in almost all of her heats. In the final she beat Zoë Steyn by 13,50 to 7,5; in the semi-finals she beat Nicole Pallet by 11,25 to 3,7; and in the quarter-finals she beat Sophie Bell by 13,75 to 5 points.
The only series that Ané did not win was the second round, but she made it through to the second round and continued firmly to the final.
As can be seen in the photos, the tournament was held on a right-hander very similar to one of the Argentine's favorite waves, the Yacht. With that and the confidence she brings, she easily won the championship.
