Basque Aritz Aranburu put his name in the history of Quemao Class winners in what was considered by the organization and the people to be the best edition of the event in history.

For two consecutive days the Atlantic Pipeline performed epically, grandly and perfectly. Aranburu separated himself from the rest in the final by a score of 10 that left the rest with a very difficult task.

The Basque loves surfing tournaments on those waves and made it clear by diving deep on the backside and coming out to celebrate, tube after tube with only three other people in the water.

In second place was the Irishman Gearoid McDaid, in third the Frenchman Adrien Toyon and in fourth Natxo González who returned to the water after some time out.

“It has been two incredible days in which the waves have been the protagonists and for me one of the most special championships I have been able to compete in in my career,” said Aranburu and added: “Today I felt very good, I had good energy. It is a championship that is enjoyed, because in the water we encourage each other, tube after tube and the warmth of the public makes it very special.”
