Australian surf team takes over Slater's pool this weekend

It will be part of the Aussies' training to get into Tokyo 2020

This weekend, the Australian surf team will take over Kelly Slater's pool to train for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which are known not to be held in pools, but as a bonus, the Aussies went for a refined workout.

Some of those who will be present will be: Stephanie Gilmore, Matt Wilkinson, Adrian Buchan, Nikki Van Dijk, Connor O'Leary, Wade Carmichael, Sally Fitzgibbons, Owen Wright, Ethan Ewing and Stuart Kennedy.

Head Coach Bede Durbidge said in a statement released by Surfing Australia: “Our national team athletes have been very busy with their travel schedules for international competitions so they are very excited to be heading to the Surf Ranch. This is the first indication of a commitment to be as prepared as possible for the CT at the Surf Ranch in September but also for the Olympics. We believe the performances achieved will be transferable to all competition venues and I can’t wait to get there to work with everyone.”

The wave pool of the eleven-time world champion continues to be a topic of conversation. It hosted the Founders Cup in May, but for the first time, a national team will be training there.
