Australian Ziggy Mackenzie has just been crowned world champion in the Under 16 women's division at the Surf City ISA World Junior Surfing Championship, which is currently celebrating its final day in La Bocana, El Salvador.
Mackenzie did not start out leading but she did clock a good 6,83 early in the heat and began to look for a good backup that ended up coming in the final minutes of the heat in the form of a 5,93.
She added 12,76 to leave Clemence Schorsch of France in second, Louise LePront of South Africa in third and Eden Walla of the United States in fourth.
The result only further distanced the Australians from the lead in the team rankings, whose victory they had already guaranteed earlier in the day.
The French team's second place is in their favour and they are fighting with the Hawaiians for vice-leadership in the team table.
Under 16 Podium:
Gold: Ziggy Mackenzie (AUS)
Silver: Clémence Schorsch (FRA)
Bronze: Louise Le Pront (RSA)
Copper: Eden Walla (USA)
