Backdoor Shootout results on hold due to Kala Grace's health situation
The Hawaiian was hospitalized after hitting the Pipe reef yesterday afternoon
The results of the Backdoor Shootout, which had an epic final day yesterday, were put on hold due to the health situation of Hawaiian Kala Grace who was injured in the afternoon and is hospitalized, they reported in the live broadcast.
According to DUKE, Grace hit his head on the reef during his fourth participation in the event and was admitted to the hospital.
In the live broadcast they asked for people to pray for him, as did the local Makua Rothman in a post and as Gabriel Villarán shows in his stories, a circle was made to pray for him.
This year's Shootout turned out to be quite dangerous, with Rothman himself injuring his ligaments and one of the heaviest big riders in the world, Billy Kemper, also getting injured the day before.
Peru rounded off a good performance once again with a 10 for Gabriel Villarán thanks to a barrel. The rest of the competitors surfed a good share of waves.
