Barona won in Mar del Plata, Arreyes was runner-up

The Ecuadorian achieved a historic fourth consecutive victory in an international tournament in a period of three weeks

With Saturday's victory at the Rip Curl Pro Argentina, Ecuadorian Dominic Barona has won four international championships in three weeks: the QS 1000 in San Bartolo, the two ALAS in Galapagos and the already classic Mar del Plata.

This will surely represent a new record for the Ecuadorian who never stops. She beat the outstanding local Josefina Ané in the grand final.

“Pure happiness, living day by day, thank God, a new title, "Come on, Ecuador at the top! This is for you and by you, for all of you who trust me and constantly support me," the Ecuadorian wrote on her social networks.

Meanwhile, Facundo “Cuchi” Arreyes tied the best result for an Argentine in this tournament (Lele Usuna in 2016) and managed to get into the final of the QS 1500 but could not beat an inspired Wesley Santos who was crowned champion. The Cordoba native scored 6,8 on his best wave, which he could not back up and finished the event needing 7,15.

“I am happy to achieve my first final on the world circuit.. God knows that everything happens in its own time, I am happy and grateful to be Argentine. Thanks to everyone who supported me! said Arreyes after the final.

The waves for the final day of the tournament were again small and had an onshore wind that, although it deformed them, perhaps brought more consistency and opportunities in the series.
