Hawaii-based South African Benji Brand has won the 2023 edition of the Backdoor Shootout, which ended last week but released its results this weekend, the organization's social media reported.
Second place in the event went to Ivan Florence and third place went to Kala Grace, who is no longer in intensive care and is recovering from a serious blow to the head that she suffered against the bottom of Pipe during the tournament.
Snapt 5 repeated their victory; Clay Marzo, Seth Moniz, Mason Ho, Josh Moniz and the victorious Benji Brand took home the tag team title.
The next places for the teams were not disclosed. It was known that the Peruvians received a 10 from Gabriel Villarán and it was presumed to be the best wave of the championship.
In longboard the winner was Keegan Edwards and in SUP, Zane Schweitzer.
The event's wave was won by Koa Rothman and the outstanding award went to Legend Chandler and Moana Jones.
