Billy Kemper won his third Jaws Challenge

And now he is second in the ranking, behind Twiggy who made the final and remained in the lead. Natxo is now fifth.

Billy Kemper won his third Jaws Challenge today in 30-foot waves with a strong offshore wind that set the pace for the day. He fought neck-to-neck with Kai Lenny in the final and a tube that he didn't get out of was what separated him enough to avoid being caught.

Third place went to Albee Layer, who braved the wind and got some good tubes. Fourth place went to young Tyler Larronde, who got a great tube in the final. Fifth place went to the leader of the ranking and sixth place went to Koa Rothman.

The tournament had been cancelled yesterday because the waves were too big and the offshore winds were too strong. When the sun rose today the sea had dropped considerably but the offshore winds remained strong.

It was a good big wave championship, although the question of “what if it had still been held yesterday” will go down in history.

For his part, the Basque Natxo González surfed well and was intelligent in his series, he landed two good lefts, but with 11,53 he didn't make it. He would have passed two of the other three series, but in his he didn't make it. He was surpassed by Nathan Florence, Albee Layer and Lucas Chianca.

This was the final result:
