Boat carrying four Australian surfers missing in Indonesia

A storm appears to have been the cause; government and private efforts began on Monday to try to find him

The four missing Australians: Elliot Foote, Steph Weisse, Will Teagle and Jordan Short

A boat carrying four Australian surfers named Elliot Foote, Steph Weisse, Will Teagle and Jordan Short has been missing since yesterday after encountering a storm, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

Eight friends travelled on two separate boats from Nias to Pinang Island in Banyaks, covering a 130-kilometre stretch; one group of four made it and the other did not.

The eight friends were on a trip celebrating one of their 30th birthday.

They contacted the authorities and also private individuals in the area to quickly begin a search for the wooden boat.

In contact with Stab, the family explained that they hope they simply got lost in the storm, perhaps ran out of gas and that it is a matter of simply finding them. They have food, water and life jackets.

In the various updates on what is happening, help continues to be added for the search for the four Australians and the three crew members of the small boat that does not have GPS.
