Ecuadorian Xiomara Bowen, Salvadoran Yoselin Alabi and Canadian Catherine Temple qualified for the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, according to calculations made by DUKE.
Of those mentioned, only Temple managed to reach the semi-finals of the event. Bowen was the best third and Alabi the second best third.
The early qualification is due to the fact that Aline Adisaka and Lucía Cosoleto, who have already qualified for Santiago 2023, advanced to the semi-finals of six players, along with the Brazilian Quillvia Cardoso, who does not occupy a place because the maximum is one per country, the two Peruvians Vania Torres and Brisa Málaga and the Canadian Catherine Temple.
With these six places left, the following happens:
Lucia Cosoleto (ARG) qualified
Aline Adisaka (ARG) qualified
Quillvia Cardoso (BRA) has already qualified her compatriot, Lucía Cosoleto and the quota is one athlete per country
*Vania Torres (PER) fights with her compatriot for the classification
*Brisa Málaga (PER) fights with her compatriot for the classification
*Catherine Temple (CAN) qualifies for Santiago 2023 (there is no way she won't be in the top 4 of eligible candidates).
*Xiomara Bowen (ECU) qualified, she was the best third in the event
*Yoselyn Alabi (ESA) qualified, she was the second best third in the event
The Peruvian who places highest in the event will complete the draw, along with the Chilean SUP surfer who occupies the host nation's spot.
These three surfers are provisionally qualified for Santiago 2023, they will have to go through the formalities of each of their Olympic committees.
Adisaka and Cosoleto, Candice Appleby (USA) and Isabella Gómez (COL) had already qualified through the ISA World Championship in Puerto Rico.
