Peru and Brazil won the first two gold medals decided today in the men's and women's SUP Race. Meanwhile, Argentina showed strength in the discipline, taking three medals in the event.

Itzel Delgado was solid from start to finish and had David Leao breathing down his neck throughout the race, but the Peruvian defined well and defined the race with a solid run in the sand that left the Brazilian lying head down in the sand while Delgado celebrated.

This is Delgado's third Pan American medal.

For his part, Franco Fachin of Argentina was solid in the race and came in third place. Puerto Rican Omelv García took the copper medal in the race, achieving a solid fourth place.

The women's race seemed to be more relaxed, with Juliana Gonzalez of Argentina dominating the race, gaining a few seconds' advantage until, upon reaching the shore, she fell into a large wave, giving time to the Brazilian Lena Guimaraes to overtake her and win another gold.

Guimaraes had won gold in Lima 2019 and was the favourite, but she had a difficult start to the race, taking a series in the lead and losing valuable time. She moved up the ranks until she won.

SUP surfer Natalia de la Llama also showed grit, she was threatened by Aline Adisaka many times but she distanced herself and won the bronze.

The final result was as follows:

Brazil remained undefeated, allowing Mateus Sena, Mesias Felix, Joao Chianca and Deivid Silva to qualify.

The Chilean and Venezuelan teams also had a great performance, allowing all four of their competitors in the category to advance: Maxi Cross, Manuel Selman, Roberto Araki and Guga Dvorquez on the Chilean side and JJ Lopez, Franwil Vento, Keoni Lasa and Carlos Pérez on the Venezuelan side.
