In a tighter fashion this time, the Brazilian surfing team won the 2023 Pan American Surfing Championship that took place in Santa Catalina, Panama.
The change in the ranking and the novelty, if you will, is that second place went to Argentina, replacing the vice-leader that last year had been Peru.
The Peruvians had a very bad start to the day, losing all three of their competitors still alive in the semi-finals and the Argentines managed to get two of them into the final and win bronze (Leandro Usuna and Lucía Indurain).
Meanwhile, Brazil managed to win both categories that were contested today, open men and women, with Krystian Kimmerson and Silvana Lima giving very powerful performances.
The results of the two finals played today were as follows:

The final team ranking was as follows:

Regarding the qualification for Santiago 2023, this event, which awards eight places with a hierarchy 2 behind the world championship, ISA, it is known that the following surfers have placed themselves in the qualification zone:
Open men:
Krystian Kimmerson (BRA)
Cody Young (CAN)
Lele Usuna (ARG)
Isauro Elizondo (PAN)
Jean Carlos Gonzalez (PAN)
Lucca Messinas (PER)
Franco Radziunas (ARG)
Marcos Correa (BRA)
Open ladies:
Silvana Lima (BRA)
Chelsea Tuach (BAR)
Lucia Indurain (ARG)
Sanoa Olin (CAN)
Arena Rodriguez (PER)
Daniella Rosas (PER)
Erin Brooks (CAN)
Isabella Gomez (COL)
All of these surfers are partially qualified because the ISA World Championship in El Salvador has a higher hierarchy and it is perfectly possible that an athlete from a country that is already partially qualified is among the five eligible in the aforementioned event and takes a place from those on the list.
It may also happen that one of these surfers who are on the list go to the ISA World Championships and get a spot there.
When that happens, we move on to the next name on the results list. In this case, we would go to the quarter-finals and see the best third-placed teams.
