Brazil set criteria for Pan American team: Two athletes will come from the WSL
Medina and Italo in Venao? It's difficult because the dates coincide with the Teahupoo CT; the event will take place from August 7 to 13
The Brazilian Surfing Confederation announced today that two athletes from the WSL professional ranking and two from the Brazilian professional circuit will be participating in the Pan American Surfing Games.
Each team will have four women and four men in the shortboard category.
It is assumed that the ranking will be respected, although it has not been established until what date.
At the men's level there are plenty of Brazilians in the CT but not in the women's; it is presumed that they will then move on to the challengers where there are two female athletes: Sophia Medina and Laura Raupp.
CBS has released the exact dates for the test's return: August 7-13.
The key point is that the event coincides with the Teahupoo stage whose waiting period runs from August 11 to 21, this stage is the last one that defines the top 5 that determine the world champion in the WSL finals.
The relevance of this year's Pan American Surfing Games is mainly that they will determine the list of seeded athletes for next year's event that will qualify for Santiago 2023.
According to DUKE's information yesterday, the 2022 Pan American Surfing Championship was confirmed over the weekend to be held in Playa Venao, Panama. All 41 nations that are members of Panam Sports are invited to participate.
