Brazil has already won the Pan American surfing championship

The worst possible result for the green and yellow and the best for Peru will not change its first place in the team ranking; in the fight for second place, Argentina has a mathematical chance of achieving second place.

The Brazilian surfing team is already Pan American surfing champion according to the calculations made by DUKE. After concluding day 5 with a perfect score in the women's and men's longboarding category, not even the best possible result of the runner-up team, the Peruvian team, will change the ranking.

Brazil has four competitors remaining in the competition and can reach a maximum possible score of 15.500 tomorrow, but its worst result would lower that sum to 14.000. Meanwhile, the Peruvian team, with six surfers still remaining in the competition, can reach a maximum of 13232, which makes the yellow-green unattainable for the Inkateam.

On the other hand, there may be a battle for silver in second place. Argentina is well below Peru in the potential team ranking, in third place with 12.195 possible points.

If Argentina loses two athletes in the semis, it will no longer be possible to catch Peru, even with its best possible result, and if it manages to get the three remaining athletes into the finals, the female surfer, Ornella Pellizzari, has to achieve a third or better and one of the men will have to achieve the runner-up position.

In the event that Argentina achieves the best possible result (gold in women's and gold and silver in men's) Peru will guarantee the Pan American vice-championship depending only on its women because if that scenario occurs it is because the two Argentine men beat the two Peruvian men in the semis (two Peruvians and two Argentines meet in the second semi-final).

In this scenario, Peru will need to win gold in the women's category and achieve at least a third and fourth place or gold and silver without having to have another finalist.

In the final step of the battle for Pan American team medals and trophies, Panama will only surpass Mexico if it achieves a perfect score, that is, if its last two competitors left, Tao Rodriguez and Oli Camarena, achieve a one-two.

The event today crowned Jefson Silva in the men's Longboard category and Chloé Calmón in the women's category as Pan American champions. The results of the finals were as follows:
