Brazil leads only by a narrow margin over Australia
After day 6 of competition, both teams lost only one surfer; the United States is third with two fewer surfers and Peru is fourth with four fewer.
Presents International Surfing Association
For the first time since it began, as of the 6th, there is a single leader in the junior world championship being held in Punta Rocas, Peru, and that is Brazil, which has a slight margin of approximately 200 points over Australia.
The day, which saw three rounds 3 go to water, shook up the partial team ranking and moved Australia to a close second place, leaving the United States in third and Peru in fourth.
The first two have only one athlete out of the event, the United States has two and Peru has four.
The gap between first and third place is less than 500 points. It is greater with fourth place. This means that more than one victory difference between the two nations might be needed, for example, on the final day, to turn the situation around.
The ranking continues with Japan in fifth, France in sixth, Hawaii in seventh, Portugal (which was tied for first yesterday) is eighth, Spain ninth and Argentina tenth.
