Brazil swept the penultimate day of the event in Mar del Plata
The small waves played in favor of the green-yellows who, facing the final day, have nine of 16 surfers alive.
On a day of small waves at the Rip Curl Pro Argentina, Brazil felt right at home and dominated most of the heats, especially in the men's bracket, where seven of the eight remaining surfers are from there.
In total, of the 16 surfers who are participating in the event, nine are Brazilians.
Facundo Arreyes, from Córdoba living in Brazil, was the only Argentine who managed to get into the men's quarterfinals, winning his round 4 series against Armando Lins, Luan Carvalho and Lele Usuna, one of the tournament favorites.

Among the women, the situation was radically different, with the Argentine majority dominating and only two Brazilians in the top eight: Lucía Cosoletto, Josefina Ané, Catalina Mercere and Ornella Pellizzari making it to the quarterfinals. So did the favorite, Dominic Barona from Ecuador, another favorite, Sofía Mulanovich from Peru and the Brazilians Julia Duarte and Camila Cassia.
The best performance of the day and of the event so far was once again achieved by the Brazilian Mateus Herdy who added 16,50 (9,5 +7). It is worth mentioning that this score was achieved while an unprecedented aquatic union protest was taking place (see note).
Among the ladies, Camila Cassia was the best, adding 13 (7+6).
Although it is not fully confirmed, everything indicates that the event will conclude tomorrow, Saturday.
