Brazilian Wesley Santos is the new South American WSL champion

Alonso Correa narrowly missed out on giving Peru its first ever South American men's title

Brazilian Wesley Santos won the 2018 WSL South American Champion title by a razor-thin margin ahead of Peruvian Alonso Correa. Santos needed to place ninth in the Maresias QS 3000 and that was exactly what happened.

In a very close series against Nomme Mignot, Michael Rodriguez and Miguel Pupo, Santos was better than Rodriguez, who was 1,80m ahead of him. If he had finished fourth, the title would have gone to Peruvian Alonso Correa, who did not go to Brazil and chose to compete in Hawaii.

We will expand.

Correa went to Hawaii where she started her season very well and from there, she narrowly missed out on winning the WSL South American title. All photos: WSL
