Costa Rican Brisa Hennessy made a great return to the tour today at the Pipe Pro, winning her heat against one of the best in history, Carissa Moore, and leaving Sally Fitzgibbons in second place.

Brisa quickly found a tube for Backdoor that was worth 5,33 and backed it up a few seconds later with a two-maneuver wave in which she executed an attack and then a powerful carving.

In the interview with the winner, the Costa Rican reflected on her focus for this year, which is to be more present and not to think about what lies ahead, as she used to do before.

Hennessy missed the mid-year cut but received a WSL wildcard to compete this year.

According to what she herself said on social media, at the end of 2022, in Hawaii, she had an MRI and they found the benign tumor in her pituitary gland. According to Brisa and her doctors, a whole series of symptoms were due to the fact that the tumor is precisely affecting the functioning of the gland that is essential in hormonal regulation.

Then, in August 2023, while visiting her country, after several treatments, she declared that she was ready to return to the tour.
