Brisa gave Steph Gilmore some work but he left in the round of 16 of the Maui Pro

The seven-time world champion from Australia found the wave that put her into the quarter-finals with 70 seconds left in the series.

Costa Rican surfer Brisa Hennessy said goodbye in the round of 2021 of the Maui Pro, the first stage of the 0,57 world tour, after giving a good battle to the seven-time world champion, Stephanie Gilmore, who beat her by just 70 points and on her last wave with XNUMX seconds left in the series.

Hennessy started off strong in her match, combining three good moves in a series forehand, receiving 7,5. She then followed up with a five and left the Australian well behind.

When Gilmore woke up scoring a 7,43, Brisa put more pressure on the Australian because she came out of a good tube and completed with two maneuvers; she left her needing a 7,1 that came in the form of a tube and a combo of maneuvers.

Prior to that, Hennessy had placed second in her Round 1 heat, ahead of Sally Fitzgibbons and behind Johanne Defay.

Already guaranteed in the quarterfinals are Steph Gilmore, who will face Tyler Wright, and Lakey Peterson, who will face Sally Fitzgibbons and Carissa Moore.

Three round 3 series remain to be defined.
