In a series with very few opportunities, Costa Rican Brisa Hennessy could not beat Lakey Peterson and said goodbye to the Billabong Pro Pipeline in fifth place.

With this, she started the year in the same way as 2022, when she achieved the best result of her career, finishing fifth in the world and reaching the WSL finals.

The series against Peterson had very few opportunities and the Californian was much better in tune. Brisa paddled into a couple of waves closing and Peterson went into a couple of waves opening.

The final closet ratio was 7,4 (3,67+3,73) to 4,93 (3+1,93).

In the rest of the heats, there was only one surfer who managed to stay in tune and ride some reasonable waves, Tyler Wright. For the others, each heat was a struggle to find a wall that opened up.

The quarterfinal results were as follows:
1st: Lakey Peterson (USA) 6,83 x 4,87 Brisa Hennessy (CRC)
2nd: Tyler Wright (AUS) 11,67 x 1,16 Tatiana Weston-Webb (BRA)
3rd: Carissa Moore (HAV) 6,10 x 1,33 Molly Picklum (AUS)
4.a: Bettylou Sakura Johnson (HAV) 2,20 x 1,77 Gabriela Bryan (HAV)

The semis were as follows:
1st: Lakey Peterson (USA) x Tyler Wright (AUS)
2.a: Carissa Moore (HAV) x Bettylou Sakura Johnson (HAV)
