Bryan Pérez was the favourite for the return of competitions to his wave and confirmed everyone's expectations by winning after two days of epic waves of three to six feet breaking in Jeffreys Bay in Latin America.
The Pan American bronze medalist did not have it easy, as he found himself in the final against Francisco Martínez, who pushed him hard, and Porfirio Miranda, who also put up a fight with his sharp backside. In fourth place was Luis Pérez, a little further behind.
Pérez won with 16,67, Martínez scored 15,23, Miranda 13 and Pérez 8.
"I'm super happy to have won at home, but what I liked most about the championship was that we all enjoyed it. Thank God everything went super well, the waves were perfect, everyone had good vibes, the surfers were happy... I think that was the most important thing, that we all left with a smile and that the competition remains in our memory. I'm super happy that everything went well, it was one of the best events we've had," Pérez told DUKE after being crowned champion.
Among the ladies, Evelyn Centeno from El Zonte made good use of her backside attack to score 11,07 and beat Katy Díaz by a fair amount, who placed second with 7,8. In third place was Vanessa Cortez, who scored 7,37, and in fourth place Katherine Contreras, who in the sum of her two best waves scored 4 points.
Meanwhile, Kevin Canto was radical in his maneuvers to add 13,67 in the final and leave Alejandro Martínez in second, Cristian Amaya in third and Brayan Molina in fourth.
Finally, the groms were defeated by the talented goofy footer, Cristóbal Pérez, who scored 11,47 to take the final and left behind Fernando Henriquez, Franklin Martínez and Erick Hernández in that order.
The event had a large number of entrants, with 155 participants spread across four categories.
