CBS “repudiates such extremely disrespectful attitudes” towards Filipe Toledo

“For CBS, the integrity, physical and mental health of athletes is very important,” they add in a note signed by its president, Teco Padaratz.

The Brazilian Surfing Confederation has made public its support for Filipe Toledo in the face of the criticism that the two-time world champion surfer received in recent days after his participation in the Pipe Pro, where after falling to the elimination round in round 1 with a total of 1,77, he did not show up for his heat due to “food poisoning,” according to the WSL.

CBS “repudiates such extremely disrespectful attitudes, which in a certain way damage the image of the current two-time world champion. We support and stand by our athletes unconditionally, especially when it comes to an Olympic athlete, like Filipe. For CBS, the integrity, physical and mental health of athletes is very important,” the statement said.

He added: “Filipe’s performances in recent years are a source of pride for all of us and make us increasingly fond of surfing and the Brazilian flag. His great contribution serves as an example and encouragement for millions of young people in Brazil and around the world, who dream of one day becoming professional athletes. It is important to remember that all the achievements of Filipe Toledo, current two-time world champion and member of the 2024 Olympic team, transformed the history of surfing in our country, definitively placing us as one of the greatest powers in world surfing.”

“CBSurf and all Brazilians, fans of high-performance surfing, will always support you, Filipe and the other Brazilians who represent us on the world circuit,” concludes the statement, which is signed by CBS president, former CT Flavio Teco Padaratz.
