Californian Caitlin Simmers turned the final series around against Caroline Marks, winning the 2024 world title and becoming the youngest in history to do so.

At 18 years and 316 days, she beat Carissa Moore, who had won at 18 years and 322 days.

Simmers had lost the first best-of-three match and then recovered convincingly by 18,37 to 14,17.

After a slow start, Simmers clocked 6,33 and in the best exchange combined attacks and carvings to achieve an 8,83 and leave Marks needing 8 points that never came.

Simmers thus achieved his first world title.

In a recent interview he said he wanted to go to college and study Botany so he couldn't just surf.
