Cali Muñoz won in Barbados using his four-year-old son's board.
He wrote an important chapter in the history of championships won with magic draws that came from anywhere.
Carlos Muñoz added an important chapter to the book of incredible stories ever written regarding surfboard equipment for major championship victories: He won the Barbados QS 5000 with the board he "borrowed" from his four-year-old son, Cale. This is what his wife, Tamara, told DUKE.
Apparently, the Costa Rican picked up the board and liked its feel. He used it during the national stage in Santa Teresa, which he won (by landing a backflip during the free surfing) and took it to Soup Bowl.
And in the Soup Bowl, where he needed a good result to return to the challengers, he shined, sinking a shot up there behind the other guy to win the championship.
This is another chapter in the story of how the magic of boards exists everywhere and in every way. You can ride boards from the most prestigious brands all your life and still end up winning.
The brand, according to some sources, is Tule, a local factory in Costa Rica.
