“The session was accompanied by a great atmosphere with all the locals and those who visited us,” said the Iquique venue.

Camilo Vileño, a local from Iquique who rides huge waves, surfed this barrel on this bomb a few weeks ago.

He says it was the best swell of the year so far and that he was lucky to find that wave and that Sergio Peña @verticaliqq took that great photo.

In the following paragraphs, in a brief interview, he recounts that wave and that day.

How did you get on the wave? What board did you use? How did the session go?
The swell occurred on April 2nd. So far, it's the best swell of the year in northern Chile.

I caught the wave while being towed, with the help of Adriano @profixsurf, who visits us every winter in Iquique, and the photo was taken by Sergio Peña @verticaliqq

My board is a 6,6 shaped by @olaf_shapes.

How did it feel from the inside? What did you see?
As for the wave, you could really feel the energy of the sea; I saw it as perfect from beginning to end. The session was accompanied by a great vibe with all the locals and visitors.

Did things change among locals like you after the beasts like Florence and Mike Stewart took down those huge waves?
Since great surfers have been visiting us, the interaction has pushed us to break our limits.

Now we continue to wait for what El Niño will bring us.
