With explosive surfing on the perfect waves of La Bocana, Carlos Muñoz and Rachel Presti won the historic Surf City El Salvador ALAS Pro today and were crowned American open champions for men and women respectively.

Muñoz was superior to Oli Camarena in the final thanks to a surgical backside attack on overhead waves that he chose. The Costa Rican put the board in the most critical position to combine a total of 17,34 (8,17+9,17) that was greater than the 15,24 (6,77+8,47) that the Panamanian did.

With a similar approach to the waves, Rachel Presti defeated the Argentine Lucía Indurain in a duel of regular footers. The North American, German and also a bit Costa Rican, attacked in the critical areas, put pressure on the maneuvers, attacked the lip and brought out her fins in the attacks, showing that there was a reason she was the world junior champion.

For her part, Lucía Indurain showed the best form of her sporting career, beating Analí Gómez in the semi-finals and when the final came, she needed a better wave to achieve the 9,23 she needed.

The final result was 16,4 (8,67+7,73) for Presti and 12,27 for Indurain (7,17+5,10).

Tied for third place were Lucca Mesinas and Guillermo Satt in the men's category and Analí Gómez and Karol Ribeiro in the women's category.

For the second consecutive year, Chilean Noel de la Torre was officially crowned champion.
