Carlos Muñoz was vice president in Peru and made it into the top 15

Talented Frenchman Gatien Delahaye took the historic stage. Carlos Mario Zapata had the best local performance, placing fifth

Costa Rican Carlos Muñoz placed second in the QS 3.000 of Señoritos and with that he guaranteed himself a place among the top 10 of the QS and is now partially in the CT qualification zone.

The tournament was won by neither a Brazilian nor a Peruvian, nor by a Latin American. The cup went to the relatively unknown Frenchman Gatien Delahaye who, thanks to an aggressive and progressive backside attack, won the event.

Carlos Muñoz started leading the final with a wave of seven points, Gatien responded with two waves of 5 and left the Costa Rican needing four points.

The turning point in the series came when a wave that looked good convinced Muñoz to paddle it and thus he lost priority.

A few minutes later Gatien surfed his best wave, an 8,83 thanks to two nose pick reverses combined with several maneuvers attacking the lip.

The Costa Rican was left looking for a 7,5 that he never found and the final ended with 14,5 for the Frenchman and 13,93.

This was the detail of the series:

“I am very happy to reach the final in Peru in a year in which my goal is to enter the CT, this is undoubtedly an extra motivation to keep trying,” Muñoz told DUKE, who also explained that on the wave he paddled out he saw that the left had no potential and thought about doing an aerial on the right.

The ranking now shows Muñoz in 14th with 4810 points, but with four CT ahead.

Carlos Muñoz was very close to closing the series but he went into the wrong wave and paid dearly for that mistake.
The best Peruvian in the event was Carlos Mario Zapata. In the quarterfinals he could have seen a higher score on this same wave.
Punta Hermosa was celebrating during the tournament and here is the proof.
