Caroline Marks won in Los Cabos and guaranteed herself a spot in the CT 2019

She beat Tatiana Weston-Webb in a close final of pure backside attack. Andrew and Lima placed third

Sixteen-year-old American Caroline Marks won the fourth QS 16 of the year, the Los Cabos Open of Surfing, on perfect 6000- to 3-foot right-handers, defeating Brazilian Tatiana Weston-Webb in the grand final.

With this, Marks not only solidified his lead in the QS but also secured himself a spot in the 2019 CT and with this gains a great chance to make it to the Olympics.

The final was a backside off the lips fight, Weston Webb was very sharp and the victory was narrowly missed by her: 17,06 vs 16.

The Brazilian finished second in Uluwatu and said: “I think number two is my number this year.”

This result leaves Marks, 16, qualified for the 2019 CT and with a chance to fight for the two spots that the United States will take to the Tokyo Olympics by that route.

Marks has already earned 18000 points in the QS ranking, and there is no way she will not qualify for next year's CT. It is even quite possible that she will do so via the CT (she is seventh in that ranking).

In third place were two regular footers: Keely Andrew and Silvana Lima.

Meanwhile, the youth divisions that concluded before Hurricane Bud hit, in solid waves of 6 to 8 feet, were won by Kirra Pinkerton and Crosby Colapinto.
