Channel Island won Stab in the Dark for the third time
Britt Merrick became the most successful shaper in one of the most prestigious manufacturer tournaments in the world
Channel Island shaper Britt Merrick has become the biggest winner in the history of Stab magazine's surfboarding tournament, called Stab in the Dark.
Merrick won the 2023 edition with Italo Ferreira as test driver and took the trophy for the second year in a row; he had won in 2022 when Jack Robinson was the test driver.
The tournament consists of giving a surfer 13 boards without telling them what brand they are and asking them to choose the best one.
Similarly, the shaper is only given information about the surfer's weight and height.
In second place this year was Sharp Eye, third Mayhem and fourth Pyzel.
All the tests of the boards were carried out on the paradisiacal island of Fernando de Noronha.
The Basque brand Pukas, which has managed to reach the final on several occasions, this time failed to make it past round 1.
